The Red Deer Memorial Centre is Central Alberta's home for live performance — a 704-seat theatre with professional sound, lighting and staging, run by a team that makes events easy from load-in to final curtain. It's well suited to concerts, comedy, dance, recitals, meetings and community events.

Every Main Stage rental includes a house technician, a front-of-house manager and our box office — so ticketing, staffing and the room itself are handled in one place.

To get started, tell us about your event and preferred dates using the form below. We'll check availability and send you a quote, the terms, and deposit information.

  • Deposit — A non-refundable booking deposit is due when you sign, and is credited toward your final invoice.
  • Insurance — You carry $2,000,000 commercial general liability insurance naming the Central Alberta Theatre Society (CATS) as additional insured. Your certificate is due 14 days before your event.
  • Ticketing — All ticketing, paid or unpaid, is handled through the RDMC Box Office.
  • Food & beverage — All concession and bar service is exclusive to the Memorial Centre; outside food or beverage sales are not permitted.
  • Cancellation — If you cancel, applicable fees and any costs already incurred are payable, and your deposit is applied to those amounts.
  • Special effects — Confetti, glitter, fog/haze and similar effects require prior written approval. Open flame and pyrotechnics are not permitted.

Rental Fees

Every event is quoted individually after an inquiry, so you only pay for what your event needs. Venue rental covers the space itself; technicians and front-of-house staffing are quoted separately.

For ticketed performances, venue rental is charged as:

  • 10% of net ticket sales,
  • with a minimum of $1,600
  • with a maximum of $3,400 per show.
  • Non-ticketed events are booked at a day rate.
  • All rates are subject to 5% GST.

The full breakdown — venue rental, staffing, ticketing, equipment and additional spaces — is in the rate schedule below.

How to Book

Inquire

Send us your event details and preferred dates through the inquiry form on this page.

i

 Hold & Quote

We place a courtesy hold and send you a quote, the terms, and deposit information. Holds are not confirmed bookings — if someone else requests a held date, we'll check back with you first.

 Confirm

Your date is confirmed once the deposit is paid and the rental agreement is signed. Tickets are not built and cannot go on sale until this step is complete.

 Ticket & Promote

We build tickets, set your on-sale date, and can promote your show through our newsletter, posters and email list (optional paid add-ons).

Marketing materials are due about two weeks before your on-sale date; shows typically go on sale 6–10 weeks before the event.

Insure

A Certificate of Insurance is due 14 days before your event. For non-ticketed events the balance is due 14 days prior; ticketed events settle after the show.

Booking FAQ

When can my tickets go on sale?

Once your date is confirmed — meaning the deposit is paid and the agreement is signed — and the box office has built your event. A paid deposit alone doesn't put tickets on sale.

How much is the deposit and is it refundable?

The deposit is due on signing to confirm your booking and is non-refundable. It's credited toward your final invoice.

Do I need insurance?

Yes. A Certificate of Insurance naming the Central Alberta Theatre Society as additional insured is due 14 days before your event. Details are in the rental agreement.

Do you offer non-profit or school rates?

Yes. We love working with schools, non-profits and community groups, and we're happy to talk through what makes sense for your event. Reach out and we'll go from there.

Can we sell merchandise?

Yes. Non-food merchandise sales are welcome and the venue provides the tables; a 10% commission on net sales applies.

Can we run our own concession or bring in food/beverage?

No. All food and beverage service — including concession and bar — is exclusive to the Memorial Centre. Outside food or beverage sales are not permitted.
