RED DEER MEMORIAL CENTRE

Effective date: [to confirm]

The Central Alberta Theatre Society ("CATS," "we," "us" or "our"), operator of the Red Deer Memorial Centre ("RDMC"), respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in accordance with Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and other applicable privacy laws.

1. Information We Collect

We collect personal information that you give us and, when you use our website, some information collected automatically.

Information you provide, for example when you buy tickets, submit a rental or event inquiry, or join our mailing list:

  • Your name, email address, phone number and mailing address.
  • Billing and payment details, which are processed by our ticketing provider and payment processors (we do not store full card numbers).
  • Event preferences, seating and accessibility requirements, and any information you include in messages to us.

Information collected automatically when you visit the website:

  • Basic technical and usage data such as your device type, browser, pages viewed and how you arrived at the site, collected through cookies and similar tools to help the site work and to understand how it is used.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information to:

  • Process and confirm your ticket orders and rental or event inquiries, and provide box office support.
  • Communicate with you about your orders, events you are attending, and changes such as cancellations or reschedules.
  • Send you news, event announcements and promotions, where you have consented to receive them.
  • Operate, maintain and improve our website and services.
  • Meet our legal, regulatory and financial obligations.

3. Ticketing and Payments

Ticket purchases are handled through our third-party ticketing provider, and payments are processed by that provider and our payment processors. Your use of the ticketing system is also subject to the provider's own privacy policy. We receive order and contact details needed to manage your booking, but we do not store your full payment card information.

4. Email and Marketing Choices

We only send marketing emails to people who have agreed to receive them, in keeping with Canada's anti-spam legislation (CASL). Every marketing email includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can opt out at any time by using that link or contacting us. We will still send you essential messages about tickets you have purchased.

5. When We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to run our events and services, including with:

  • Service providers who work on our behalf — for example our ticketing provider, payment processors, email and IT service providers — who are permitted to use it only to provide those services.
  • Authorities or other parties where required or permitted by law, or to protect the safety, rights or property of the venue, our patrons or others.

6. Cookies and Analytics

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to make the site work, remember your preferences and understand how the site is used so we can improve it. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, though some features of the site may not work properly if you do.

7. How We Protect and Retain Your Information

We use reasonable physical, technical and administrative safeguards to protect your personal information against loss, theft and unauthorized access, use or disclosure. We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy or as required by law, and then securely dispose of it.

8. Your Privacy Rights

Under Alberta's PIPA, you have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to request access to it, and to ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete. You may also withdraw your consent to certain uses, subject to legal or contractual limits. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

9. Third-Party Links

Our website may link to other sites, such as event organizers or partners. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.

10. Children's Privacy

Our website is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without the consent of a parent or guardian.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version will always be posted on this page with its effective date. Significant changes will be highlighted where appropriate.
